Divine G, imprisoned at Sing Sing for a crime he didn’t commit, finds meaning in life by acting in a theater group alongside other incarcerated men in this story about resilience, humanity, and the transformative power of art. At the beginning of the film, the cast auditions for various roles in the play. These are actual audition tapes used to cast the film. The group is criticized for not doing comedies, even though their previous play was A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which is a comedy.
