Almut’s Career: A Missed Opportunity One of the elements I found missing in We Live in Time was a deeper dive into Almut’s career as a chef. We’re told that cooking is her passion, but the film doesn’t spend much time exploring why this is so important to her. What role does cooking play in your identity, and how does it conflict with your personal struggles? By not focusing more on this aspect, the film misses an opportunity to add depth to her character. It would have helped not only connect the viewer more to his journey, but also make his internal conflict about balancing career and family more urgent and understandable.

Strong performances hold it all together

Product Placement: A Dash of Distraction Let’s talk about the Weetabix moments. When the product literally becomes part of the conversation, it feels like the movie took a quick break to sell us breakfast. It’s the kind of moment that makes you wonder, “How much did Weetabix pay for this?” It didn’t ruin the movie, but it definitely could have done without the snack commercial halfway through the movie. Despite its flaws, We Live in Time is held together by the incredible performances of Garfield and Pugh. Their chemistry alone makes the movie worth watching.

The show had an interesting premise and a lot of initial promise, but it got lost along the way .

However, it seemed that it was originally written as a multi-season show, but was condensed into an eight-episode miniseries

The result was an over-saturated story with numerous subplots and undeveloped characters that are only loosely connected to the main plot.

Each subplot had potential but was cut short, leaving the story empty and confusing

It looked like all the right ingredients for a 5-star dish were there, but the chef ran out of time and just threw it all together and served it.

The ending was especially disappointing – not frankly bad, just disappointingly bland

She did not release any strong emotions, neither good nor bad, because there was little to touch.

When was the rampant drug use of the era portrayed so candidly?

It's the last days of The Great War and Karoline is barely eking out an existence working in a factory. She believes herself to be a widow as her husband disappeared during the war (even though Denmark didn't actually participate), but is not getting the benefits for widows because he hasn't been listed as dead.A lot happens during the movie and I don't want to go into spoilers, so I won't go deeper into the plot except that the marketing is emphasizing something that is not as big a part in the movie as one might expect.While that does get a lot of attention in the latter half of the movie, to me the real value of the movie is the feeling of reality around Karoline's story. When was the last time someone in a movie was trying to convince a potential tenant to take up an apartment by telling them that they could have running water for two whole hours a day (from ten to noon, which might not be much of a selling point as most people would be working during those hours)?

While Dagmar is a major character, the movie is clearly about Karoline and her hardships

Even what Dagmar is doing was relatively commonplace back in the day, although I would hazard a guess the trend was downward at this point in time and it wasn't happening as much as it had before.I actually might have enjoyed the movie more if the marketing was different and Dagmar wasn't brought up, because it created expectations. On the other hand, it's hard to say how I would have felt seeing the name Dagmar Overby on a door if I hadn't known beforehand that this real life person was used in the movie. (It should be noted that the movie is inspired by real life events rather than based on, so they are trying to maintain a certain distance from the real Dagmar).I do feel some part of the audience will find it hard to sympathize with Karoline , as she does sometimes seem to make the right decision just a little too late.

It's black and white and the whole city seems decrepit and barely holding up

At the same time, there isn't that much time or opportunity for ethics when you're just trying to survive in a world where the odds have been stacked against you. On the other hand, while we know the hope she is given would be for nothing in this world, we still understand why she gives into it.I like the look of the film. It reminds us of the lack of interest in the well-being of or even disdain for the working poor.

Have things really changed that much?

Of course, all art is in some way a mirror of the time it was made, but it just seems easier to see the similarities here.

The incident with Valya Harkonnen using voice is from one called 'Mentats of Dune'. All three books interweave the development of the Sisterhood, the Mentats, the Navigators and the Suk Doctors.. I don't want to be critical on just the first episode of a TV show, but this was just average on every level.The acting was below par, barring some of the well-known actors like Mark Strong, Emily Watson, Olivia Williams and maybe Travis Fimmel. Rest of the actors felt like were just out of movie academy or something.

The story was very loose, and the dialogue was not dune worthy

I love slow-moving dramas that takes forever to build up because I know the reward is worth the wait. But this wasn't just slow, lot of things happened, but it was just boring, I don't know how else to put it. The soundtrack that did wanders in the movies were ripped off a bit here, some familiar sounds appearing here and there but it's just that the timing wasn't good. Like I heard a lot of music here that didn't make any effect.

My question is that did he even like this to have been made?

I remembered how long in the movies we would go with just people talking and then boom, Hans Zimmer does his magic, and I would just get so pumped up. But I know that he wasn't a part of doing any sounds here and I don't even have to check that.I am not sure Denis Villeneuve was involved in this production, I hope not. Would an average tv show like this after two epic films have an effect on the much awaited third film? The reason I am wondering is that because The Penguin was so good that it made me appreciate The Batman even more than I did after my watching it and can't wait for the 2nd film.
